FYA Book Club Locations
This page is updated at the beginning of every month to show the meeting times and locations for the various FYA Book Club Meetings. Don’t see a city near you on the list? Don’t get upset! Fill out the form below and we’ll check it periodically. Once there are three or more people in your area, we’ll contact you to get your own FYA Book Club started! OR!! If you already know some people in town and you just want to be official, email Erin at Erin.at.FYA@gmail.com and she’ll put you on the official schedule! In the meantime, you can hang out in the caf for a virtual book club!
February Selection: THE SCORPIO RACES by Maggie Steifvater
March Selection: SLOPPY FIRSTS by Megan McCafferty
If the schedule is taking a while to load on this page, you can also view it here.
(If you see an * by the time and day, it means that the day might move. Please email Erin for that city’s contact name to be sure.)

Does Loading… mean there’s a form that should be downloading for me to fill out or do I request here?
The form link was broken, but now it’s back up, so you can fill it out to sign up for a book club near you!
Scratch that, it’s still broken. Sorry! Check back soon. Meanwhile, I think the internet needs a champ can.
I think it’s fixed now!! Sorry about that; when Sarah did the fancy pants part of actually publishing the page (because I am barely literate), all the html embedded went screwy.
Hey LA peeps! Apparently the person I talked to on Monday at The Prince didn’t know that they were going to be closed for filming today and I just found out about 40 minutes ago when I tried to go in.
Let’s try again next Wednesday! Same time, same (hopefully open) place. Sorry for the inconvenience!!!
And by 40 minutes ago I mean around 6:00 p.m. I guess the site’s not set for west coast time!
We actually were able to meet last night after a bunch of craziness so I’m going to ixnay the ubclay for next week. There’s still the west LA club this Saturday, if you want to hit a LA book club this month!
Seattle is meeting tonight at 7, not 6 in case anyone wants to join us!
Hi! Just curious if a book has been selected in September? I’d love to grab a copy and be all prepared this time
. I was a bit late to the game this month and couldn’t join in…
Happy end of summer (I am soooo ready for fall)!
Hi Jen! September’s book is Lish McBride’s Hold Me Closer, Necromancer.
Hey Chicago,
They 11th is a Sunday and the 14th is a Thursday. Soooo are we meeting on Sunday the 11th at the Grafton and Thursday the 14th at Green Eye Lounge?
I’m hoping to make one or the other! So excited!
It’ll be my first FYA book club.
Yes, Sunday the 11th is 1:00 p.m. at the Grafton Pub.
this isn’t strictly related to book clubs, except that themed book club meetings would be about the best thing ever. and it’s raspberry cordial, and the folks on this site strike me as the right kind of creative to make this wonderful. http://www.yesandyes.org/2011/09/literary-nibbles-anne-of-green-gables.html
Hey it says saturday sept 11 for Miami, so is it sunday sept 11 or saturday sept 10?
Good Catch!!! Saturday, sept 10.
Thanks! Also is the booksupposed to be read before the meeting?
Yep
Provo UT isn’t on the list, but we are meeting – Sat. September 24 at 2 PM, same location as last time (The Cocoa Bean). Also, unrelated, but is there a schedule for the next few months’ picks? Sometimes it takes me a little time to track down books so I would love to have an advance list if one exists.
Question!!! Is there a list of discussion points for each book club to go over like there was for Beauty Queens?
could someone either list here or email (mastokes_usc at yahoo dot com) the questions/discussion points we have for the necromancer book? our meeting is tonight sooooo sometime today would be awesomeballs. thanx!!
Does anyone know what next months book is and is there a list somewhere?
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (fyi, we’ll always announce it here on the site and over twitter/facebook during the third week of the month). The schedule for October will be up tomorrow.
Hi. I was hoping to join the Boston club next month. It would be my first time. I was wondering if anyone knew what October’s book was? Thanks!
It’s The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak
I was just checking the DC sites and noticed that the first date is for Tuesday, Oct. 10. Unfortunately, Monday is Oct. 10 and Tuesday is Oct. 11. Can you please let us know which date we should be ready for?
Thank you! So excited to go to my first book club!
Hi Katie! That group always meets on Tuesdays. It should be the 11th and I will update it. Thanks and good catch!
Thanks for the quick reply!
OC peeps!
I’m so bummed that I had to miss last month’s meeting, and I have to miss this month’s book club as well! Although, my absence might be for the best, considering I blubber when I even *think* about this book. I’m in for November!
I can’t wait to meet you ladies!
Can’t wait to meet you either! We’ve moved locations for November: Marie Callender’s 540 N. Euclid Ave. Anaheim, CA 92801
And we are meeting on the 18th @ 7:00pm. Hope to see you there!
I’m so there! I read DoSB the week it came out and I can’t wait to talk with you all about it. Yay!!!
Okay, so I just looked at the date again and I realized I can’t go to this month’s book club bc I’ll be at the movies, seeing you know a movie. Durn it!
Next month!
Amy –
Where/when is the December meeting? I’m so excited to read this book!
Same place as last month (Marie Callender’s 540 N. Euclid Ave. Anaheim, CA 92801) on December 29 @ 7pm.
email me at amersbee at gmail dot com and I’ll send you emails each month
Do you have contact info for any members? This month (October) is my first meeting and I can’t find anyone here at Brit’s Pub (tc location). It doesn’t help that I don’t know what anyone looks like… But I want to be sure of the date and place of next month’s meeting!
Never mind! I found them. I just wasn’t searching hard enough!
Hey. Can anyone tell me generally how long a book club meeting runs? I plan on attending the meeting this Thursday in Cambridge, MA for my first time. I am trying to plan around my crazy nurse schedule so I was just wondering if anyone could give me an estimate? Thanks!
It varies from club to club, but I would say an hour and a half?
So, can anyone tell me where on earth the Dallas/Ft Worth meeting is? I missed October’s meeting because I couldn’t find this “Casa de Aguliar” place on any map and I see that it’s being held there again. I have personally driven through Dallas once in my life (I am not kidding and it was not a fun experience) so I have no idea what I’m doing. Thanks!!
I’m with you. I totally failed to find the Kansas City group today. I found the place, but not the people. And I braved the mall on a Saturday to do it, too. *shivers*
It would be great if there was contact info of some kind for the leader of each group, so new people could get in touch and double check, and the group could know to expect them. Is there something like that, and I’m just being dense?
Amber & CJ–
I would email Erin (her contact info’s at the top of the page). She has all the book leader’s contact info and would be able to pass it on (I think).
Hope that helps!
The Philly group is meeting today (Nov. 17th) at 6:00pm at Eulogy in old city.
Does anyone know what December’s FYA Book Club book will be? And is this information available anywhere other than the end-of-the-month book club recap? They usually tell me at the book club meeting, but I couldn’t make it this month.
MISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN by Ransom Riggs
Hi there!
Do we have updates on December dates?
Thanks!
Just FYI for all Dallas-Fort Worth folks: our members usually volunteer to host at their houses. I guess it’s that Texas hospitality thing?
Join us! I promise you we’re not axe murderers!
Chicago weekenders! I am sick, y’all! Please meet without me because you don’t want me near you. I’m sorry.
I am very interested in doing the chicago weekend meetings, are you open to new members?!
Everyone’s always open for new members! If you can’t make it this month, January’s book will be The Ruby in the Smoke by Philip Pullman!
I was the sole San Francisco person last night, but a few glasses of wine and The Night Circus fixed that right quick.
San Francisco people, show up in January! I want new YA-obsessed friends!
I was out of town for the Dec. meeting, but I fully intend to be there for Ruby in the Smoke (which I haven’t read since I was about 13 and am very excited about) so you shouldn’t be the only one on the 18th! : )
Oh, I am so excited! I haven’t read any Philip Pullman for years either. If you’re on Goodreads, I started a group here: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/60728.Forever_Young_Adult_San_Francisco
I would happily share my email/cell if you can figure out how to do that NOT on a public blog entry.
I’m really sorry Jennie, but I’m not feeling very well today so I’m not going to make it to bookclub. I hope some other people show up and you all have a great time!
I just stumbled upon this blog today, and have been hooked for most of the afternoon. I’ve now filled up my holds queue at the public library with FYA recommendations, and was even MORE excited to see that a book club meets right down the street from my house! No way! I think this was meant to be…
Any Kansas City people out there??????
I showed up at B&N last Saturday, and couldn’t find anybody. Did I just miss you, or has that club dispersed?
The same thing happened to me when I tried to find the group back in November. I kinda dropped it for a while, but I just got in touch with the leader and the club is still active and meets on the second Saturday of the month. They’re meeting on the 11th at the cafe in the Town Center B&N in Leawood.
I’m planning on going and searching for them, so if nothing else we should be able to find each other.
Oh, good! Let’s “unofficially” plan to meet at the cafe, in case we don’t find anyone else!
Yes definitely! I’m so glad you posted!
Does anyone have The Scorpio Races on the Nook and would be willing to Lend it to me? Would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!
So many clubs in Michigan, yet they are all on the east side! Rats
Bethany, you could always sign up to lead one in your area!
Yesss a date for the Cleveland meet-up! I just moved to the area and am looking forward to chatting about Sloppy Firsts with fellow NE Buckeyes.
I’m looking for a group, or to start a group, in central PA near Harrisburg or State College, so if you’re in the area sign up on the form!
