About the Book

Title: Give Me a K-I-L-L (Fear Street Relaunch #6)
Published: 2017
Series: Fear Street

I’m so happy R.L. Stine’s returned to ol’ Fear Street, especially now that he’s brought back some of that evil cheerleader charm. The cheerleader stories were always the best from the original Fear Street, and Give Me A K-I-L-L continues the tradition in strong fashion!

The Deal:

Gretchen Page has just moved to Shadyside, and she’s eager to try out for the cheerleading squad. See, Gretchen had some trouble in her past, but she wants to move forward and have a fresh start. Little does she know that the Shadyside High cheerleading squad is the worst possible place for a fresh start, because these cheerleaders have baggage. As mysterious and eventually violent things start to happen around Gretchen, she has to ask herself: is making cheerleader really worth it?

The First Line:

Gretchen Page stroked a brush through her straight blonde hair as she pressed the phone to her ear with her free hand.

The Suspects

Fellow cheerleaders Devra Dalby and Stacy Grande certainly have cause to hate Gretchen. She’s a better tumbler than they are, and they both seem to have a history with cutie (and equally suspicious) Sid Viviano, who immediately starts flirting with Gretchen, earning her Devra and Stacy’s ire. Plus Gretchen’s friend from her former town, Polly, definitely has some mystery surrounding her.

Cheapest Cliffhanger

R.L. Stine is known for his chapter cliffhangers, many of which are misleading.

End of Chapter 2:

She let out a startled gasp. Nearly walked right into him. “What are you doing here?” she blurted out.

“Shhh.” He raised a finger to his lips. “I’m stealing some laptops. Want to help?”

Beginning of Chapter 3:

Gretchen stared at the laptop tucked under his arm. She raised her gaze to his dark eyes. Serious eyes that crinkled up as he started to laugh. “I’m messing with you,” he said. “Did you believe me?”

Best Cheer

Do you dig it?

That Tiger beat?

Tigers roar!

More! We want more!

Tigers roar! Tigers SCORE!

GO, TIGERS! YAAAY!

The Last Line

YOU KILLED ME, GRETCHEN. BUT I’M NOT GOING AWAY. BFF. [REDACTED]
