About:

Title: Life Partners
Released: 2014

Fix: Adam Brody!, BFFs, Selected Stereotypes Made Charming
Platforms: AppleTV (rent), Roku (ads)

Official Summary:

Paige, a type-A lawyer, and Sasha, a carefree musician, are best friends until a man enters the picture. Are the women growing up or growing apart?

FYA Summary:

Best friends Sasha and Paige have an extremely close relationship, until Paige finds a boyfriend. His mere presence immediately starts to interfere with their BFF traditions, and Sasha starts bristling at his mere presence. But is this because Tim is an asshole, or is it because Sasha is lonely and questioning her career choices?

Familiar Faces:

Leighton Meester as Sasha

Gillian Jacobs as Paige

Adam Brody as Tim

Gabourey Sidibe as Jen

Greer Grammer as Mia

Couch-Sharing Capability: Good

I would totally watch this with my BFF (or any one of you!), as long as my viewing partner could stand my running commentary on Adam Brody’s ill-grown facial hair (NO GOATEES, JUST NO) and wincing at all the Type-A traits I share with Paige. It’s cute and funny, although everyone has their moments of being goddamn annoying — which makes it more realistic.

Recommended Level of Inebriation: Break Out the Pink Wine

Is there anything better than watching movies with your friends while drinking substandard pink wine? (Okay, maybe watching movies with your friends on a tropical beach, however that would work, drinking excellent wine, but you know what I’m talking about.)

Use of Your Netflix Subscription: Good

While the main draw of this movie for me, personally, was Adam Brody, the story is cute, and I will watch anything about female best friends. I’m not a lesbian, so someone else will have to tell me if the certain stereotypes portrayed were offensive instead of tongue-in-cheek (I think they’re the latter, but again, that’s not my call to make). Any lady in her late 20s has probably gone through the struggles portrayed in the movie, whether career, love, friends, or family. It might not be the most amazing movie ever, but I thought it was perfectly enjoyable. Also: Adam Brody
