if FYA were a dwarf in “snow white,” we would most certainly NOT be bashful (is there a dwarf named Alkie? no? just curious). in fact, after excellent YA and strong cocktails, there’s nothing we love more than a good compliment*.
we also enjoy appreciating ourselves for the hard drinking work we do on this site, and so we’ve decided to nominate ourselves for the book blogger appreciation week (BBAW) awards, which has got to be the lamest-sounding awards acronym in history but WHATEVS, it’s an award and WE WANT IT. because we are eternal teenagers, and we need acceptance from our peers. and also a sparkly tiara, if possible.
in order to register for award consideration, bloggers must publish an entry “linking to five past posts they feel distinguish their blog in their chosen niche.” our chosen niche, btw, is YA. in case you were confused, i.e. there is not a niche for Best Adult Beverage Book Blog (yet!).
jenny, erin, meghan and i tried to come up with a list of our top five entries, but it was hard!!! the only ones we agreed on for sure are:
i would throw erin’s new “flowers in the attic” series in the ring as well, but we also need to include two book reports.
so now we need yr help! which posts do you think distinguish us as a YA blog? which book reports are yr favorite?
COMMENCE SHOWER OF COMPLIMENTS!
*this is a blatant lie, as i can think of at least ten things i love more than a good compliment. this list includes mac & cheese, “friday night lights,” dance parties and eric from “true blood.” but still, compliments are pretty great.

My suggestions:
Frankie Landau Banks book report and/or mix tape
Jellicoe Road book report
Almost Perfect book report
Hunger Games mix tape
YA book cover post
Any of the Between Two Lockers posts
p.s. break a (pants) leg, ladies!
aw, thanks lady! our pants are blushing.
It’s so hard to narrow down your book reports because all are OMG awesome. I will take a closer look though, and let you know.
Nice stems!
Everything you do is so fantastic that it’s hard to choose! But I suppose that’s a good problem to have.
I love the “Between Two Lockers” and CYOA series. For book reports, definitely Frankie Landau-Banks and Jellicoe Road. And others. You could just throw them all into a virtual hat (aka random number generator) and pick two and you’d probably end up with some really great entries!
If you don’t include Will Grayson/Will Grayson, I might cry. And boycott your blog for the remainder of the month. And I second Frankie.
Just checking out your blog as I was in the neighborhood. Good luck with the BBAW!
Hmmmm, this is TOUGH. My first question is, WHICH SWEET VALLEY ENTRY?! That will be tough to narrow down THEY ARE ALL EPIC EPICNESS.
I second Meredith’s suggestion for the Book Cover entry. I like that one a lot. For a pick report I also like Frankie. That’s a good one. Maybe you guys could also use one of the Book Club Ones. Those had some mad discussions in the comments.
When I read the “we must include 5 posts…” I was like HUNGER GAMES NAME! So I’m glad you’re including that one. I think you should include Jellicoe Road and/or WGWG. Or the Catching Fire book report. Or a Between Two Lockers. That’s all I can think of right now. GOOD LUCK!
Definitely the Jellicoe Road book report and the Book Cover Post. And what about the Twilight Drinking game? So hilarious. I also loved the WTF about about Trya writing a book (can’t remember what it was called). It’s really so hard to choose because everything on this site has me in tears from laughing so hard.
oh my gosh!! definately Jellicoe Road and any Meg Cabot book report, seriously girls, if you do not win, i will send you a tiara myself and a sparkly wand too, one that makes beverages of your choice appear, along with a gentleman of your fancy. i pinky promise
CARLA IS MY FAVORITE.
forget the BBAW, i want the Carla Award!
hey thanks, guys!!! dang, we should apply for more awards just so we can create more posts like this and FEEL THE LOVE.
next stop: THE PULITZER.
EVERYTHING TINY COOPER-RELATED.
DUH.
All Gale V Peeta. I LOVE Gale V Peeta.
And the New Moon Drinking G– “JORTS!” … Sorry, I still haven’t gotten that out of my system.
I’m an actual YA, and reading this blog kept me from dying of boredom during the school year, as well as informing me about some awesome books that I might not have picked up otherwise, like Jellicoe Road. I don’t have any suggestions for reviews to include at the moment, but I really, really hope that you win!
Between the Two Lockers! I think one of those definitely!!
I would vote for you ladies!
the is a very serious issue your blog deals with in a unique and distinguished way: swoonworthy factor .
I look straight at the “swoonworthy scale” value and this:

is a great post all YA bloggers should know about
Sweet Valley High drinking game, hands down. And, it pains me to say this, I use your book reviews as a serious selection tool in my job as a school librarian. Sorry, you’ve gone legit.
In that case, I demand one of those little trophies the library used to give us upon successful completion of the summer reading challenge!
And a paper bookmark!

honorable mention: if loving this book is a crime please don’t send me to incarceron, because my search for intelligent discussion of this book led me to FYA!!!
