I take issue with the fact that you didnt use a DNRIP tag on this book. The last 10ish pages? Yeah… not so happy there. I was on the train with tears running down my face- smearing my mascara. I was a hot mess.

PS- OMG I LOVE SILAS!!!!

PPS- Ghouls… hehehe they’re kinda of awesome. Not in the whole gonna kill you way, obvs. But def in the way they impersonate US Presidents and Emperors and famous poets.

Okay – so I am just discovering this list of required reading as I’m new to the site…so forgive the 8 month delayed comment. I know this site is for YA – but I just had to let you know that Neil Gaiman is one of my most beloved authors, and i’ve been reading him for years. i highly recomment ‘Good Omens’ as well ‘Stardust’ (totally lame movie) and ‘ Neverwhere’. i dipped my toes in neil gaiman awesomeness via sandman (awesome, obvs!), but it looks like i need to jump all the way in cos this book sounds delightful!!! plus seriously, who DOESN’T love hanging out in graveyards? well, ok, maybe the people who work there. they probably like to go home after a long day of digging holes.

for the record, jenny does NOT mess around when it comes to boston cemeteries. her hubby showed me the best one i’ve ever seen, mt. auburn, which features… A MARBLE CRADLE for a dead baby. CHILLS, Y’ALL. chills.

Hmmm…your review makes me want to read this book. Oh wait, I already did. Doesn’t sound like the same book though. It wasn’t my cup of tea, but so fun to read a review that makes me want to read a book that I already read and didn’t like. You are right about the illustrations. They were cool and very well done. Really helped set the mood and tone of the book.

I cannot wait to read this book!!!! The one REALLY cool thing about living in New England? Old garden cemeteries! I spend much time walking about in them, looking at headstones– want a chastity belt in a name for your daughter? Try Mehitable! Anyway, I pretty much eat my lunch in a grave yard every day, and love thinkng about the lives the people buried there lived. So, yeah, I’m all over this book!

yes! i LOVED this book! and yr casting is perrrrfect (mmm … especially richard armitage …). man, now i have to go read this book again cos it’s been TOO LONG. and you totally cracked me up with yr shout-out to texas public schools. holla! it’s amazing any of us come out untainted.
